I, Louise Murray, nominate Jennifer Baughman of 11thSCVI, Company B.
Jennifer Baughman is relatively new to reenacting, having begun the hobby in February 2005 at the Battle of Olustee and has actively pursued it by becoming a member of the 11th SC Volunteer Infantry and the Palmetto Battalion.
She has been an enthusiastic learner of this hobby and joined the Palmetto Soldiers Relief Society to gain knowledge of what is and is not correct regarding the ladies during the period of time we portray. Through her enthusiasm and guidance, several of her friends are now also active in the hobby.
She has become quite accomplished at making period clothing, not only for herself but she has sewn dresses for other people. This endeavor began when she, and other likeminded friends, decided to form a sewing circle, meeting once a week at each other’s homes to learn to make their own dresses. Since then she has ventured to learn more and has sewn several items for her fiance’.
She attended the PSRS workshop held in
Last year, Jennifer attended all but two of the Palmetto Battalion events. The Company record shows her attendance at events the year before to be the same.
As well as Battalion events, Jennifer has been active in local events in
Her dedication shows exceptional service to the hobby, the Battalion and as a representative of the Palmetto Soldiers Relief Society. For this, I think she would do justice at representing the Palmetto Soldiers Relief Society as Lady of the Year.
Thank you or your consideration and with kind regards, I am,
Louise Murray
