November 12-14
Battle of Secessionville in Charleston, South Carolina. One hundred
forty-eight years ago on June 14, 1862, a small group of Confederates
soldiers from the 1st SC Artillery had just completed a portion of the
earthwork embankments of Tower Battery located on James Island. The battery
came under assault in a pre-dawn attack from an invading Federal force. The
ensuing battle proved disastrous for the invading Federals. Outmanned 3 to
1, the Confederate troops stood their ground and won a decisive victory that
would signify Charleston's strong defenses. A living history event will
allow visitors to step back in time as men, women and children present what
life may have been like during the Antebellum era. Become a part of that era
with interactive historical displays. Come relive the actions of the men who
fought with honor and courage as the Confederate Heritage Trust in
association with Boone Hall Plantation bring you the 20th Annual
Re-enactment of the Battle of Secessionville. The Battle of Secessionville
is sponsored by the Confederate Heritage Trust, Inc, a non-profit charity
dedicated to the preservation of Southern heritage relics and symbols. Our
goal is not the glorification of war but the education of the next
generation on the horror and tragedy of it's consequences, that courage,
honor and valor are personal traits we each possess, which we each must rely
on when words fail and we are forced to pick up a sword. For more details,

March 26-28, 2010 Natchez Pilgrimage Experience.

This is an appeal for reenactors who care to do their best:  We have planned a trip to Natchez, MS for the weekend of March 26, 2010.  We will leave the Nashville area on Thursday, March 25 after work and return on Monday, March 29.

As part of an effort to contribute to the Natchez Pilgrimage experience, we will make at least two lunch-time presentations about the way women from different walks of life would dress and behave during the years of the Civil War.  Other optional activities are planned, including some free home tours and some that cost money as well as a sampling of restaurant fare in Natchez.  We have acquired a cottage in town at NO COST to stay in while we are there.  Space in the cottage is limited but we have had some people who now can't go on the trip.  The cottage is not furnished but with the reenactor spirit, I think we can supply our own bedding.

If you're interested in what promises to be a fun and educational trip, please get back in touch with me for more details at:  trishhasenmueller at gmail.com

Hi Folks,

The previous info sent around about the December Augusta Ball lists
the Clarion Suites as the hotel with a group rate, but not the
Patridge Inn. Due to management changes PI was slow to respond to
offering a group rate, but they are now onboard offering a group rate as well.

Soooooooooooo, if you have previously enjoyed staying at the Patridge
Inn while attending the ball, you can do so again at a discounted
rate. Several of us are planning on staying there because of the ambience. :-)

To contact the Partridge Inn with your reservations, you can
call: 706-737-8888.

Also, I wouldn't wait until the last minute to purchase your tickets
to the ball/Friday evening.
